From Australia and Tasmania, the Blackwood Acacia is long-lived and moderately frost hardy. The timber is highly valued for cabinetwork. Profuse balls of pale yellow flowers appear in spring. Planted in the open, it has a spreading bushy crown and short thick trunk. Not drought resistant, enjoys fertile, moist soil and humid climates.
