This gorgeous shrub has flowers that begin a dark purple, fade to lavender, then to white from March to July. The leathery leaves are a pretty bronze-green. This shrub will do well in any location between full sun to filtered light. Avoid too much shade. It blooms for a long time during the warm weather. The plant produces the flowers at the end of the new growth, therefore the more branches you have the more flowers you get. To accomplish that, the plant should be trimmed in order to achieve a round shape which can be done anytime of the year, except between September and November. The plant will survive temperatures in the low 30°s for short periods. Deciduous or partly deciduous in coldest areas of its range. Good specimens in containers. Grows 3-8' high. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds. Caution: all parts of plant are poisonous if ingested. Water regularly but do not overwater. The soil needs to be a little bit on the acidic side. Zones 8a-10
