An attractive deciduous specimen, with green leaves turning yellow, bronze, purple to red in the fall. It has a medium to fine texture, and grows low and dense with spreading branches; assumes a layered look. Of the maple species, the Japanese Maple is one of the most highly prized, making an exquisite small patio tree or focal point. Adapted to full sun in the north, but in the south best growth in locations with afternoon shade to avoid leaf scorch in the heat of the summer. Zones 5-8
